The Art of Lossless Data Compression vol. 20g

Here are the results of tests performed in January 2001 to compare lossless compression of True Color (24-bit) images by all known programs developed for such purpose, including BMF, JPEG-LS and PNG software, 7-Zip, Pkzip, and archivers with special algorithms for 24-bit images. Compression time is divided by 10 here, because more than 90% of people would never compress anything during their life (with compression programs), but they use compressed data almost _every_ time they use computers and/or Internet.
